"The The Bad Boring Bad Book of Names" is a zine about a Central and North Asian naming tradition, which itself does not seem to have a name. The zine is a result of a research into the roots, meanings and personal stories related to "giving a bad name as a protection / spirit ward". Widely practiced in yet very sparsely documented, this tradition is shared between people of different language groups, religions, and geographic locations, such as Buryaad, Mongol, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Sakha, Tiva, and Taijk people. The publication was created for the 2023 Non Native Native Fair, held in Amsterdam's Framer Framed art space during Taring Padi's "Tanah Merdeka" exhibition. The zine can be ordered, please reach out for price and shipping information.
